Summary
The proposal amends the Energy Act to allow municipalities, regions and their selected organisations to connect up to 60 transfer points as an active customer in the electricity sharing regime instead of the current 11.The aim is to facilitate the use of electricity from renewable sources in public buildings and to simplify sharing without the need to establish energy communities. According to the explanatory memorandum, the change is expected to have a neutral to positive impact on public budgets and promote energy self-sufficiency of local governments. It is proposed to take effect from 1 January 2027.
